Vice President for State Affairs, Southwest Region

Fred C. Bosse serves as vice president for state affairs, Southwest region for the American Insurance Association. He has held this position since his return to AIA in 2003. He is responsible for operations in the eight-state Southwest region that includes Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Mr. Bosse works to advance the business and financial interests of AIA’s member companies in the public policy arena by providing representation before state legislators and regulators, securing a role for members in the formulation of public policy and facilitating solutions for company-specific issues.

Mr. Bosse began his professional insurance career in 1982 when he joined AIA as counsel in Washington, D.C. He went on to become vice president of government affairs for USF&G in Baltimore, MD where he had responsibility for 16 southeastern and southwestern states. He then moved on to USAA in San Antonio, Texas where he headed the State Government Relations Unit under the general counsel. Mr. Bosse currently serves on the board of the Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, and formerly served as chairman of the Association of California Insurance Companies as well as on the board of the Texas Medical Liability JUA.

Mr. Bosse is a magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in history. He received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of law review staff for The Tax Lawyer.
