Vice President for State Affairs, Midwest Region

Steve Schneider serves as vice president for state affairs, Midwest region for the American Insurance Association. This includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Mr. Schneider’s responsibilities include direct contact with legislative and regulatory policymakers, as well as the management of retained counsel on AIA’s behalf. He works out of AIA’s regional office in Deerfield, Illinois.

Formerly, Mr. Schneider was the state government affairs officer for Kemper Insurance Companies and the director of state government relations for Washington National Corporation. He also served as the assistant director of the Illinois Department of Insurance and worked for the Illinois State Senate Minority Leader as a staff member for the Insurance, Pensions, and Licensed Activities Committee. Mr. Schneider also has experience with the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee and served as a volunteer and professional consultant for various other local, state, and national congressional campaigns.

Mr. Schneider is a graduate of Quincy University and has a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Chicago.
