Vice President, Federal Affairs

Thomas J. (Tom) Santos serves as vice president of federal affairs at the American Insurance Association, where he covers the issues of natural catastrophes (including flood insurance), Terrorism Risk Insurance (TRIA), credit based insurance scores, and Dodd-Frank implementation. Mr. Santos has 15 years of experience in the public policy arena, focusing primarily on financial services and insurance. In his current role, he holds direct responsibility for communicating and advocating AIA’s positions relating to a variety of property-casualty issues to federal agencies and Congress.  

Prior to joining AIA, Mr. Santos served as the director of government relations at the Association for Financial Professionals. Earlier in his career, he spent several years on Capitol Hill working for members of the House Committee on Financial Services (formerly the House Committee on Banking and Financial Services).    

Mr. Santos holds a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Anselm College and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Rhode Island.
