AIA is the leading voice of the industry in international affairs, and maintains ongoing engagement with the U.S. government, foreign governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders on international issues. As significant growth opportunities emerge, U.S. insurance groups are increasingly active in foreign markets. AIA member insurance groups make up some of the most globally-active insurers, having physical operations in more than 70 countries and serving customers in more than 170 countries and territories.
AIA is involved in global regulatory modernization discussions, including on issues such as group supervision, capital adequacy, and systemic risk. AIA also works to improve markets conditions for U.S. insurers around the globe through direct engagement and by consulting with governments and international organizations.
AIA is a member of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA) and the Inter-American Insurance Federation (FIDES).
