AIA APPLAUDS PENDING FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS, URGES RATIFICATION
WASHINGTON, D.C., October 4, 2011 – Leigh Ann Pusey, president and CEO of the American Insurance Association (AIA), today commended President Obama for transmitting to Congress the pending free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Columbia. These agreements require congressional ratification before they can be implemented and will open new markets and ensure greater U.S. competitiveness in the global economy.
“AIA and its members companies commend the President for transmitting these free trade agreements to Congress and we urge them to take quick action on ratification,” said Leigh Ann Pusey. “These agreements will establish improved regulatory and transparency standards and will greatly enhance US insurers’ ability to offer their products in these countries.”
“The agreements will also help boost the US economy and lead to job creation, something our country desperately needs.”
