About AIA

AIA's mission is to advance the interests of its member companies in the public policy arena by:

  • providing representation before federal and state governmental bodies
  • magnifying individual companies' efforts to influence legislation, regulations, and judicial decision-making
  • assuring a role for companies in the formulation of public policy
  • anticipating and responding to changes in the political environment
  • tracking federal and state proposals from start to finish
  • providing communications and effective grassroots support to AIA and individual company programs

AIA serves its members by amplifying the voices of individual companies in matters of industry concern and providing representation before state and federal legislative and regulatory bodies and courts. It assures companies a role in developing solutions to the most significant issues facing our industry. We track about 50,000 pieces of state and federal legislation a year through an automated legislative service, and we analyze and develop position statements on legislative, judicial and regulatory actions. In addition, AIA alerts members to trends in the industry and society that could affect their future operations.

The cost of membership is based on assessable premium volume. Our by-laws require that all companies that are part of a group of affiliated carriers under common ownership, management or control be included for membership assessment purposes.
