WASHINGTON, D.C. – APRIL 19, 2018 – The American Insurance Association issued the following statement in response to Senator Tim Scott’s introduction of the Business of Insurance Regulatory Reform Act (S. 2702):

“We applaud Senator Scott for drawing a brighter line between the CFPB’s authority and that of state-insurance regulators,” said Wes McClelland, vice president of federal affairs at AIA. “As the Senator noted in his statement, Congress deliberately limited the Bureau’s oversight to exclude the business of insurance, and this legislation further echoes that intention. We look forward to its swift movement in Congress before heading to the President’s desk.”
