Sacramento, CA – September 18, 2018 – The American Insurance Association issued the following statement in response to Governor Brown’s (D) signing of AB 2392 yesterday:

“We are pleased that Gov. Brown recognized the need to add stronger consumer protections by closing loopholes in California’s Towing Bill of Rights,” said Katie Pettibone, vice president of state affairs, western region. “Towing and storage fees are becoming an increasingly large percentage of the payouts in automobile crashes. This bill takes important steps toward curbing abusive practices aimed at inflating storage fees. Assemblyman Santiago (D-AD 53) has been a strong advocate for California consumers, and with his ongoing leadership on this important issue, we hope to see a reduction in problems in this area.”
